GoGirlfriend.com charts new path for online travel

More than 80% of all travel decisions are made by women, and GoGirlfriend.com is setting sail with an innovative new women's online travel destination aimed at this growing market.

Guelph, Ontario, Canada: December 11, 2007 -- GoGirlfriend.com is navigating a travel route for women ages 35-55 with articles on girlfriend getaways, family adventure, solo, romance and cruise travel.

Women travel differently than men and they make more travel decisions.

GoGirlfriend answers the specific travel questions of women, serving up information the way they want it - fast, concise and with a healthy dose of attitude.

Well-known contributors like Dez Bartelt a Women's Adventure Tour Guide and interviews with Cat Cora, the First American Iron Chef from the Food Network will offer the best information on female travel trends.

Many travel topics on the site straddle genders though: Hiking vacations in the Caribbean, how to get your name off terrorist watch lists and packing tricks based on Rosien's travel experiences. A series of articles explores how travelers can give back when traveling.

GoGirlfriend makes daily escape possible. Whether it's a once-in-a-lifetime Caribbean vacation or a spa treatment for the afternoon, cultivating escape is critical for all women.

Women make more than 80% of the travel decisions and an online community for women to gather and share travel ideas is long overdue.

eMedia wanted an innovative, attractive and informative website where intelligent women can go for the travel news that matters to them.

  • On Surviving a Hurricane While Traveling, Lisa S. said "Growing up in good ole NC, I have survived my share of storms. Actually, where I sit currently (on a barrier island) has been under water many times. Staying on an island is scary. We leave if it is over a CAT 1. The most important thing for us is to fill our gas tanks at the first inkling that there may be a storm. Water, medicines, non perishable food, they're all really important. Honestly, if it is a big storm, alcohol later serves as pay for work. We stock up on EVERYTHING. We start eating out of the freezer days before (like we did tonight, getting ready for Earl). You don't want much to go bad. Then we tie up all the trash cans, secure grills, and hold on for dear life :)"

  • On American Tourist Kidnappings on the Rise in Mexico, Roger said "Better not to drive if you can travel by bus. Buses are not apt to be targets like cars with US plates that also can be stolen. The buses in Mexico are very comfortable like flying in a plane they often have movies and it is safer.Plan your trip and don't travel alone especially if you are female.Women traveling alone are a target Good luck and stay alert."
