Like other large (and small businesses), recessionary cutbacks have decreased the staffing levels manning the front check-in stations for that assisted service. If you have any special check-in needs (odd or oversized packages, ability assistance, or simply if the kiosk just wouldn't print your luggage tags) the long, slow lines at the assisted check-in are a source of great
time stress. While I waited 90 minutes in a frustratingly long line recently, 2 passengers well ahead of me missed their check-in cutoff and subsequently missed their flights.
Plan a minimum 3 hours AT THE AIRPORT for international flights and almost as long for a domestic flight. Whether there is a traffic accident on the freeway, check-in delays or security lineups … in my opinion, it’s much better to get through the lines knowing you have lots of time to spend with a good book or on Facebook rather than intense last minute stress or worse, missing your flight, taking away from the excitement in starting your vacation.
Now, it's time for a coffee before boarding!
