Mi Dushi Yourself in Aruba

Mi Dushi - Aruba's greatest escape from reality

Mi DushiMi DushiAruba is like my beautiful, older cousin, Jen. All the other islands know that no matter how hard they try, they'll always look gangly and awkward next to year-round sun, a beach for each day of that year and Mi Dushi.

What's that? Never heard of Mi Dushi?

Mi Dushi, built in 1925, sails the glorious trade winds of Aruba to 3 unique snorkel sites. The crew supplies everything you need to make your snorkeling fun and safe (including disposable mouthpieces and life jackets). Lunch is included, as are all your drinks.

You'll spend the morning snorkeling and enjoying the scenery, the afternoon swinging the rope and drinking more rum than should be legal in any part of the world. The video below shoes my pathetic attempt at mastering the rope swing.

The crew makes safety as much a priority as fun, which means the bar remains closed until the snorkeling is finished. The rope swing started after the bar opened - not that we needed liquid courage - but the rum helped reduce the sting of belly flops.

I love that the whole point of Mi Dushi is about getting out of your own way so you can just have fun. Some Aruba Ariba FriendsAruba Ariba Friendspeople on the cruise had trouble uncoiling themselves enough to have the kind of fun they left behind in college.

But not me.

Admittedly, I actually don't remember much about what happened after the rope swinging, except that I made some new friends.

Oh, and I also know how to climb the bowsprit of a ship now too.

Mi Dushi's BowspritMi Dushi's BowspritMi Dushi isn't the only thing you'll love about Aruba, but it will be the silliest fun you'll have while on the island.

It almost makes you feel sorry for all the other islands and what they're missing.

I just got back from an 11 Day Exotic Southern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines which was out of this world....wish I was still there! Rather than stay at an all inclusive resort and are restricted to that one location, take a cruise. What an amazing way to visit many different islands in such a short period of time, have wonderful people take care of your every need and be waited on hand and foot. There is always something to do on a ship. Everyone has different needs and Royal Caribbean will make sure that everyone is happy.

Make sure you convert your cash at the airport so you can buy a cold beer on the bus on your way to the resort. They will take canadian money but not loonies and toonies. "
